I recently bought the BodyRip Deluxe Weight Vest and thought I’d give you my thoughts on it.
I’d been looking for a weight vest for a while now, for some reason I thought it would be a great addition to my workout routine. It’s one of those things that’s been at the back of my mind for a while. This one was reasonably priced and had fair reviews so I took the plunge.
First of all I have to say this is very comfortable to wear. It doesn’t chafe or rub when jogging in it and all the individual weights stay where they are supposed to. They are tightly packed in their little pockets so they aren’t bouncing around when you run. There is soft padding on the inside which makes it not unpleasant to have on.
The Velcro straps feel secure and the vest doesn’t loosen as you exercise. The velcro also means it’s one size fits all.
There are 20 sand bags each weighing 1kg each that can be removed or added to adjust the weight from 0-20kg. They fit tightly into their individual pockets which makes them difficult to add and remove but as I mentioned above they need to be snug or they’d jumping around.
The weight was enough for me. I think anymore would be bad for you if using this to run in but it depends on your build and goals. If you are looking to buy this to for pull ups and push ups its also great. Use your own judgement here on whether it’s going to be heavy enough for you. It’s certainly better than having weights dangling between your legs.
Seems well made, good stitching and nice materials. A couple of reviews on Amazon suggest it starts to deteriorate after a few weeks but I have not found that to be the case.
There are cheaper ones out their if this is a factor in your decesion but always bear in mind you get what you pay for, I always believe this to be a rule to live by with workout gear. These things go through your workouts with you, they get hot, wet and smelly. You want something built to last for your money. This one falls in the mid price range for weighted vests. There is 10kg and 20kg options to choose from. The 20kg is better value. At the time of writing the 10kg one is £30 and the 20kg one is £47
Not much to say I know but it’s good quality, versatile and comfortable. Price is ok.
